Ancient China comes to Hong Kong

Yesterday I had a day off. So instead of hanging around at home I went to explore. Instead of walking west towards Causeway Bay I went out east to Tai Koo. I heard that Tai Koo Sing had a big mall and it turned out to really be a big mall. Hong Kong is full of these huge malls. You can wander around and shop all day in one area then jump on the MTR and go right to another area.
There was somthing special here though, something that came right from China, something very old. Dinosaurs. The mall had the bones of dinosaurs built up and layed out in the open areas of the mall. The built up bones are really large. It was impressive to see though no really interesting dinosaurs were put up. The City Plaza there has another interesting attraction. An indoor ice rink. Not a really big one but enough that they pack it full of people and hold lessons. Oh there is a really cook water fountaint there as well. The water jumps around and seems so solid when it does. It jumps out of certain areas through the air to another separate area. It is really quite amazing and captivating to watch.

I tried watching the news that night as well. It is still too difficult right now my vocab is so limited. I did see the tail end of Alvin's beer commercial though.

Today though was tough at work. I am rushing to finish the Science lesson plans for the summer. I finished most of them except for 5 or 6 activity worksheets. The worksheets are a pain, how can I make an interesting worksheet, that doesn't involve all writing but can teach the concept of science while teaching the vocabulary of English? Conversational is handled in class. Scientific proceedure is handled through the experiment and hopefully some recording on the worksheets. But the worksheets are mainly for the parents. They need something to show that the kids have learned something. The most difficult aspect of this job is pampering the kids to have fun while making sure the parents are happy with their progress. I went out to meet up with Connie afterwards with Phoebe and Erine. I haven't seen Connie since our TESOL class ended sometime in October. Connie is an interesting girl full of information and perspective insights. We walked around looking at sights and shopped for a bit but since Connie was kind of tight on her schedule (her strongly recommended she come early that day) we ditched them to find a place to eat. We wandered around until we saw a place that just opened up that sells those "cart noodles". Rick told me later that they're known also as "dirty noodles" or something like that. We get to choose 2 types of "balls" (beef, fish, chicken, etc, etc...) and the noodle and the soup base.

Connie's visit hit me at kind of a rought time. This whole first month is just tight for me on cash. I'm trying so hard to not dip into money I have in Canada just so I can survive here and buy things in Hong Kong with the money I earn abroad. I need my nest egg at home for when I return. Connie promised me one more night before she took off for China so I'm looking forward to that. I miss being a bit social actually but I really don't have that option here.

Oh I forgot you really are a Hong Kong person. I was walking around the area there's a lot of very comfortable apartments there. Do you remember the name? I'll find it and take some pictures for you ;).

You better come to skate with me! I totally miss ice skating! Actually, I wish I brought my rollerblades now. I work right beside Victoria park!
