Happy National Day Hong Kong!

Today was Hong Kong's National Day. I spent most of the day with Karen and we went out shopping and met up with her friend Johny. The plan was to chill until we could see the fireworks. I heard the best spot to watch them is TST, but also that the amount of people would be crazy. I know Karen isn't up for crazy crowds (we already had our fair share stuck at rush hour in the MTR) so we decided to go to Wan Chai to watch the fireworks instead. Oh, it made no difference the crowd was insane. I brought out my tripod for the event but I felt a little silly with my dinky (but cool) point and shoot Pentax S4i. Joyce came out to meet us but she was a bit late getting off work and they had closed our section off by the time she came in. This meant she was stuck watching the fireworks further out, if I left to meet her I couldn't get back inside. The fireworks were nice, but National Day in Hong Kong actually doesn't even compare with Canada Day in Ottawa. The streets of Ottawa are just so lively during that time period. After the fireworks were done the harbour just emptied out and people went about their ways. We ended up grabbing some dessert behind Sogo and chilling until Karen passed her curfew (haha!). Joyce went back with me and we split up to go our separate ways. Happy National Day, thanks for the fireworks.
