Spring Birthdays

So far this month has been the busiest for birthdays. Today is Yoji's birthday, or was it yesterday since he is in Japan. He's been nice enough to send me the webcam that matches my notebook from Toshiba, though Canada customs did a strange thing. They rejected the package because there was no English for the sender's name. That obviously means Yoji used only Kanji. English using countries make it very difficult to use other languages. Even the Windows OS in English doesn't allow for unicode the way my Japanese Windows OS does. It is virtually the same thing, and many of the Windows applications support unicode now, why does it have to be so difficult?

Yesterday was a busy day. I was already very tired for no apparent reason all day. I woke up early and accompanied my mother (who is visiting along with my father) back to my grandmother's place. I wanted to use the gym at her condo. Afterwards my father and I returned back to my house here to pick up my brother so we can go out to eat. Like usual we head to Congee King which actually isn't that great a restaurant, but we always go when my father arrives in town. The rest of the day my father and my brother are moving items to Oakville while I was trying to plan things for the evening. CW had contacted me and I think I annoyed her with my indecisiveness. I really had no desire to go downtown to eat Indian food, and I wasn't sure if I wanted to play her little games. I ended up with a good meal at my usual favourite restaurant; Magic Wok.

Sai and I had worked out kind of a plan and we made an agreement that night. He'd head downtown with me to go to Helen's birthday clubbing event, and then I'd hang out with him when we go over to his friend's karaoke event. It started off pretty bad, I even wanted to cancel The weather was horrible, and I just felt tired. CW didn't finalize any plans so instead of waiting around I finally decided to just stick with the original plan. Originally we were told to meet up at 10. We left just after 10 and ended up downtown more around 11. Surprisingly Helen and the gang still weren't there, contacting her was no easy feat. I'll know next time that she has a super delayed Chinese time that she runs on. Over all the club, Havana, wasn't bad. There are two floors, niether of them were big. I was impressed by the dancers they had hired, caucasian girls who had good looks and could dance well. The group finally arrived and it was all good. I little slow because I didn't know anyone, but I managed to be introduced to most of the girls by the end of the night. It was a pleasant surprise to run into Debbie again (Helen's old roommate). Another pleasant surprise was running into Andrew. Just Sai and I amongst a sea of strangers was a bit uneasy, but throw in Andrew and it was bad at all. He was somewhat distracted by a fairly attractive female paying him a lot of attention on the dance floor. Lets wish him luck.

We had to ditch close to 1. My "hot" friend (quoted from one of the girls) and I headed over to Focus, the new Monopoly. On our way out near the coat check, he runs into his ex. It seemed like all the girls wanted a piece of him that night.

Karaoke was a big surprise as well. We headed into the wrong area and ran into Coral and Doug! This night was full of surprises. We left it a mystery how we knew she was there and she pointed us over to the birthday girl in her group. We walked over and proceeded to wish the wrong girl happy birthday. After we were corrected, we wished the right girl happy birthday and shamefully returned to Coral. We said our quick hellos and goodbyes and went to find Sai's friend to wish her happy birthday. Already at 3 birthdays for this weekend not including Yoji's!

The night was a success. I enjoyed the club, and the people. Met a lot of girls which I haven't done for awhile, and it was always a good surprise to see people you know.
