Tiff's Birthday Dinner and a Short Film Shooting

We went out on the 19th to have a "pre-exam" party for Vanessa's friend Sai. She got a table at Volar and we all went down a bit earlier to avoid the push to sit, drink, and dance. I was introduced to Sai's and Vanessa's friend Mabel, owner of the shop Pink Martini(Shop 02, G/F Bartlock Centre, 3 Yiu Wa Street, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong, 2574 1498). Mabel runs the shop with her younger brother, the designer for the store. When I went the first time I was with Cherie who told me about how she admired the shop before she opened up her own little boutique, Lollipop. We chatted that night and tried to get her drunk, she mentioned something about usually yelling profanities when she's drunk, but we didn't seem to get her drunk enough.

Tuesday we had a little dinner party for Tiffany. Her birthday was actually the day before, but due to commitments to her family we decided to hold her dinner the next day. I really fretted over all the aspects of this dinner. Tiffany's only request was that we have Japanese food that night. I asked my Japanese tennis companions about restaurant recommendations. Vanessa and I walked around checking out shops and looking at menus. In the end I settled on a restaurant Shigiyaさん recommended called Kichi (吉, 6/F., Tern Plaza, No. 5 Cmeron Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon H.K., 2368 0000). The atmosphere wasn't too bad, though we had a little problem with dripping air conditioner water. The food tasted great, but the service was lacking. They didn't allow us to take pictures of the food either. Sandra brought a cake from Cova, but we were scared off by the $150 HKD cake serving charge and decided to take that money and go for drinks nearby wear we could cut the cake and enjoy a drink as well.

Tiffany isn't the easiest person to buy a gift for. I've given her several gifts in the past, none of which I've seen her use. Since coming to Hong Kong she has definitely been more experimental in terms of fashion and looks. While searching for a present I managed to find a white thin belt at Diesel that I thought suited her perfectly. With the colours she usually wears I thought the belt would compliment her nicely so I called up my friend at Diesel to see if I could use her staff discount (it was a new season item).

Everyone seemed happy with the end result, and we had an enjoyable evening celebrating it with a close friend.

Wednesday Gloria called me up after work to go see a shooting for a short film that she was helping with. The other day she had asked me to try on clothes for some actor, because she was choosing clothes from one of their sponsors. On paper the guy had nearly exactly the same specifications as me. Height and bust size were suppose to be identical so I was really interested to see who this actor was. It turns out the measurements were more like guide lines in this particular case. They were shooting in some residential place near Tung Chung. Because they had to keep the noise down they had all the windows closed and the air conditioner was turned off. The room was incredibly hot. I spent most of my time chatting in the hallway with the female lead, Peggy, Gloria, and the artistic adviser Rocky. We were randomly talking about martial arts and I mentioned Fred's name. I didn't know his Chinese name so I called him up and he ended up chatting away with Rocky, whom he knew already from TVB.
