Summer is over! Jobless again!

Summer is pretty much over. The school year starts in September and my summer courses at Readership have ended. It was hard work and fun at the same time. After my second summer I still like being with children. Though I've met some kids that really pushed me to my limit. Happy belated birthday goes to Phoebe. She had a horrible time on her birthday since Ms. Pamm was sick but we ended up celebrating it with a cake the following week. I put together a collage of pictures to show off some of my kids and my coworkers.

More on the belated events, we held Tiff's birthday after dinner clubbing celebration this past Saturday at Volar. Priscilla's back and I go to hang out with Julian and Eva again. Met some new friends and hung out with a lot of old friends. I was pretty happy. We ended up at Hei Hei afterwards where I ran into Cen, Ally's flatmate, again. Apparently he knows people who knew my friends. Hong Kong has such small social circles. Like tradition we ended up at Tsui Wah in Causeway Bay for breakfast before heading home.

Oh, another belated happy birthday goes out to Jasmine. Too bad she's in China on training but I'll be having dinner with her tomorrow night to celebrate.

The partying has slowed down yet, Cen invited me out to a Dunhill private party tonight, we have a boat trip coming up this weekend, and Ally's birthday is coming up next week.

But I really need to start looking for work. I could use the money to travel, and to buy nice things. I don't want to be sucked into the whole Hong Kong way of living but I found a new phone that I'm in love with. Good bye LG Chocolate, hello Sharp SX633. I met people at Volar who used the LG Chocolate phone and they told me the cool touch pad isn't very responsive and they didn't like it very much. Coupled with it's lack of features I think I'm better off waiting for the SX633 to drop in price. I love Sharp mobile phones anyways.

Summer Time in Hong Kong - Happy Birthday Tiff!

First off, recently we celebrated Tiffany's birthday at Baci in Lan Kwai Fong. It was a little over priced for the quality of the food. Luckily the environment was pleasant and of course the company. Terence just got back in from his trip and we were pulling him around all night to hang with us. After dinner Terence got Gloria and I into Volar. We met a couple of Terence's friends and partied there until about 4. Originally I was suppose to meet up with Cherise and Germaine but they've been really restricting access into Volar until after 2am. I haven't seen so many models before, that night there really was a lot, I noticed Gloria's eyes were a little wider leaving that night. It was a lot of fun, I ran into Sunny's, Coral's, Kelly's, Ken's, and Oscar's cousin Carl. I couldn't remember his name at first and called him Gary. He totally ignored me and treated me like some freak. I think he kind of remembered at the end when I talked to him again. After Volar we finished off the night at Hei Hei. Overall a fun night for myself.

But there is always danger behind this type of fun. Recently my friend Jasmine saw an article in the Apple Daily. It talked about a group of flight attendants who went out clubbing or drinking and were all drugged and taken advantage of. I notice most of the people I go clubbing with are pretty responsible. Tiffany always hands her drink to a friend before she leaves to go to the washroom. I just want to remind my friends and people who read my blog to be careful. I heard of a few similar stories from some local friends in Hong Kong. These things happen, even if it hasn't happened to you yet.

On the personal side, I've had a lot of conflicting problems with some relationships. It is really difficult for me to hold a relationship here. The ones that I have had I've tried to make clear that I'm here on a temporary basis and that my current views and opinions will reflect that. I try to be as open and honest as I can about that. I think I've hurt someone and I just want to say sorry about that. I try to be a good person, but I feel horrible when someone wants to avoid me because they always feel like they need to hold me when they see me.

Edit (2006.08.29):becareful changed to be careful.

Oscar in Hong Kong

My schedule has fallen into somewhat a routine. I go to work, then I go to the gym, then I go party. After giving blood the next day I went a little crazy with the physical activities. Afterwork I headed to the swimming pool for a few laps. I met up with Henry at the gym right after and then headed down to Lan Kwai Fong.

Coral's brother is visiting HK, Oscar, he'll be leaving soon so we needed to party at least once. I met up with him and his friends at Bulldog and they decided to check out Pi. Pi started out really good, it has always been a decent spot to chill. It is kind of small but the decor is nice and the view is great. The music is pretty good as well. Oscar was going crazy talking to all these girls on the dance floor. I have to say he was a bit drunk already before he went up. We were the noisy Canadians that night. After Pi people split up, I brought Hiroko out with me and we went to go meet up with my other friends. Salina's flew in as well, I was lucky enough to run into her when we left. We didn't get to party this time but she should be back again soon.

My classes are changing slightly now. Some kids are going on vacation and others are coming back from vacation. I lost Iona and Ronnie, but I picked up another class with Vanessa. The class with Vanessa might be a bit difficult, she caught me speaking Chinese on the phone with Salina and now her and her sister won't let me go about it.

I Gave 450cc of Blood

Yesterday, for the first time, I donated blood to the Red Cross. They were running a blood donation clinic at my gym, Waterfall in Olympic City 1. I was hoping to get some excercise in before I gave blood but the nurses talked me into just going through with it because they were afraid if I worked out I would lose too much fluid. I was actually a bit afraid when I saw how much blood they were taking out of people. You see the bags on TV but for my first time I couldn't imagine me losing that much blood in 7-12 minutes. It went faster than I thought though and overall I had no problems at all. Iris came over to meet up with me to talk and we held our little meeting playing arcade games the whole night. I haven't been to the arcades in such a long time.

The other bit of news. My cousin Raymond was officially married yesterday. I'm actually really sorry I couldn't make it. The plane ticket is pretty expensive and work is very busy. I wish them happiness and fortune for the future. They sound perfect for each other anyways. Since Raymond is a doctor there's no real reason to worry about them.

I hope giving blood doesn't affect me too much today as I plan to be a bit active.

Pirates of the Carribbean - Dead Man's Chest

I'm starting to get use to the workload again. It isn't easy but it feels like it has gotten a little easier. With kids you need to show a lot of authority initally. The problem is that I need to make sure they like me as well, which increases my marketability.

Working hard six(6) days a week going out Saturday is even more important. Sure I can just go home and relax, but I don't really want my life style to slow down. This past Saturday was my last teaching day at SME in Yau Ma Tei. I've finally finished working at that place. I'm just sick of the late pay and the run-around the accountants give you when you push them. Nearly all of the front line staff has changed. The second time I've seen this in the year (almost) that I've been working there part-time.

Clubbing has been more of a hassle recently. Tiff use to organize events to get out which was pretty good but she's been taking it easy these days (which is good of course) so I've a need to find other people to go clubbing with. Clubbing with Henry is fine, but he's a little inexperienced (ha! experienced clubber?) so the feeling is a little different. He actually called me out earlier this week to go the new club, Club No. 9, with his ex-ex-girl friend but that plan ended up falling apart. That's okay. I took Kendall and my new friend Janice out instead. Agnes and her friends were out at Club No. 9, but she left before I could make it there. We got out a bit late anyways since Kendall was out with his co-workers drinking in Causeway Bay before hand. While walking to Club No. 9 we ran into Agnes' friend Cherie. Cherie and her friends were heading over to Hei Hei so we decided to join them. Almost all the girls in the group are taller than me. My Hong Kong friends keep commenting on how all the people I know seem so tall, including the girls. It was a pretty fun night and I'm glad I went out.

Sunday my tutorial lesson was cancelled. Max's grandfather had past away. I just slept the extra hours and headed over to the gym for a little bit. I had dinner with my ex-coworker Bonnie (one of the new front line staff memembers at SME Education Centre), her friend, Hiroko, and Denise. We had dinner at a Viet restaurant near M1 Bar in TST that's not too bad. Afterwards we rushed to the UA at Mong Kok to watch Pirates of the Carribbean - Dead Man's Chest. The movie was enjoyable to watch but I hated the cliff hanger at the end. Obviously there will be a 3rd movie. I just don't want to wait to find out what happened. I finally realized why it was so difficult for my ex-gf to understand the original Pirates of the Carribbean. The Pirate speech patterns. Hiroko basically counted on the Chinese subtitles to understand the story, most of the English she couldn't understand at all. Luckily I use to sail so most of the terms and concepts were familar to me. If you enjoyed the first one then I recommend seeing this one as well. I thought the first one was a bit better only because there was some closure. Oh well, the 3rd movie will probably be out next year.

I final comment, I want to wish good luck to Irene who's openned up a little shop to test the market for China made jewelry. I have the utmost respect for what she's doing and if anyone is in Lam Tin you can find her little shop (for this week only) on the 5th floor near one of the escalators.

Edit(2006.08.21): Thanks to the anonymous poster for correcting me. So upmost isn't suppose to be a word but dictionary.com still has an entry for it. Anywho, utmost is the correct word that I meant to use. I suppose someone who majored in Math shouldn't be teaching English... I appreciate the correction. Thanks anonymous.
